A POPULAR clothing store in Taunton town centre has closed its doors over the weekend but is “looking for another site”.
House of Tweed, based on East Street, closed on Saturday, January 7, but a spokesperson told the Somerset County Gazette the shop is closing "temporarily".
The spokesperson also said: “It is just that the lease came to an end. We will look for another site in Taunton. We are closing just temporarily but we got to move out of that site.”
The shop opened in Taunton in 2020 and had to close due to lockdown only a few days later.
Back then, a second lockdown came into effect and the government announced a closure of a month for all shops selling 'non-essential' items.
At the time, a company spokesman said: "We decided to open as one of our colleagues lives in Minehead and we think Taunton is a good area.
"We had a brilliant response from customers when we opened on Saturday."
As explained on their website, The House of Tweed are specialist in creating luxurious handbags and accessories using bespoke designed tweed fabrics.
