The Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning covering both counties and most of southern England.
The warning was posted shortly after midnight and is due to last until 10am.
The Met Office says the icy roads are likely to cause "difficult driving conditions at first this morning".
Motorists, other road users and pedestrians should expect:
Icy stretches on some roads, pavements and cycle paths;
Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
Take care out there.
