IT looks as though Clarks shoes will soon be on sale again in Taunton town centre.
The Somerset-based footwear giant is preparing to return to the main shopping area just three months after it shut up shop.
It has submitted a planning application to Somerset West and Taunton Council (SWT) for a shop premises in 7-8 East Street.
That building became available after House of Tweed closed on January 7 this year.
Ironically, while House of Tweed hopes to return to the town at another site, Clarks is heading back after closing its store on the corner of High Street on November 1 last year.
C & J Clark International Ltd has put in two separate planning applications to the council.
Its proposals include the partial replacement of the shopfront.
The company also wants to install an internally illuminated fascia sign and an internally illuminated projecting sign in East Street.
A decision will be probably be made on the application by SWT's development control manager under delegated powers.
House of Tweed initially opened in Taunton in late 2020 - but closed within a week in November that year due to due to lockdown restrictions. Click HERE for the story.
