SOMERSET County Council has partnered with Fostering In Somerset and Somerset Libraries to launch Bear Trail and other fun fostering events.
A variety of bear-themed family games, activities and competitions are planned at Taunton Library during February Half Term (11-18 February), inspired by Fostering In Somerset’s latest TV campaign: Anna’s Story.
The week offers something for all ages, with activities such as craft sessions, Lego play, and story-times running alongside a week-long treasure trail.
The activities are part of an ongoing Somerset County Council partnership between Fostering In Somerset and Somerset Libraries to help to raise awareness of the need for more foster carers in the county.
Fostering In Somerset’s recruitment team will be on hand each day between 10am- 2pm throughout the week, providing those interested in fostering with the opportunity to learn more about fostering and have any questions answered.
Cllr Tessa Munt, Somerset County Council’s Lead Member for Children and Families, said: “With over 500 young people in Somerset needing foster homes, we are looking for more foster carers. I would encourage anyone interested in fostering – whether now or in the future – to come down and speak to our team.
These sessions provide a fun and informal chance to have myths busted and questions answered, and Taunton Library is an amazing place to relax and recharge.”
All activities are free to attend, with some requiring pre-booking as they’ll be popular. For a full list of activities, as well as times and how to book, visit: Half Term Bear Trail & Activities (fosteringinsomerset.org.uk).
