BOSSINGTON HALL, a luxury B&B in Porlock has been shortlisted for Best B&B in South West.
The family-owned business, only started in 2021 in response to the pandemic.
Guy Dewdney from Bossington Hall said: "I bought Bossington Hall in 2017 and refurbished it as a whole house holiday let, sleeping 30.
"The Pandemic saw to that business model, and we had to rapidly change tack to a Bed and Breakfast - as with a B&B we could segregate the guests (in January 2021 that is)."
"Since then, we have been very proudly winners of the Bristol Bath and Somerset tourism awards - winners of best B&B 2022, and also winners of a Gold award for our breakfast from the Taste of the West."
Bossington Hall was recently notified of their finalist status (again, best B&B) in the South West Tourism awards - this being the gateway for Visit England’s Best B&B for the whole of England.
The Hall has great services such as a disabled accessible apartment, on the ground floor which is unique in the location.
Furthermore they have taken great strides to make the business as environmentally friendly as possible, removing single use plastics wherever possible, using electric tools and buggies, insulating as much as practical, installed use a Hot-Bin composter for the food waste.
The hospitality service also encourages sustainable practices such as reducing the portion size glass jam jars by returning them to the local community where artists use them.
Guy further added : "We were very grateful to Hinkley Tourism Action Plan (HTAP) for a generous grant for a application under their scheme - so we used this to build a ‘wellness suite’ consisting of a modest, but again unique in this area, massage and treatment room, and a Swedish style hardwood and glass sauna for use by our guests and non-residents alike - this has provided employment for several people, and is proving popular with guests."
Bossington Hall is a unique B&B, having spectacular views, a Listed Squash court, a sauna and service that is second to none.
