TWO sixth-formers from Taunton School in Somerset have received offers to study at Oxford University.
Amelie, 17, hopes to read history at Queen’s College while 18-year-old Evie has been offered a place at St Hugh’s College to study classics with Asian and Middle Eastern studies.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity for me to get this offer,” said Amelie, who joined Taunton School on a sixth-form scholarship.
“I am very grateful to everyone who has supported me in this achievement.”
Evie, who also joined Taunton School on a scholarship when she was 13, said: “I am really grateful to my wonderful classics teachers who have built up my confidence.
"They have supported and encouraged me to explore my interests and ideas beyond lessons.
“I am really excited to get this offer to study at Oxford.”
Around 96 per cent of Taunton School sixth formers go on to top universities or colleges including Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities.
Students who apply to Oxbridge receive expert guidance from the school’s careers department as well as specialist tutoring from head of history Mark Chatterton.
Taunton School headmaster James Johnson said: “This is truly excellent news.
"It is not only wonderful for the pupils involved but also a credit to their teachers and those who have guided them through the process.”
