THE two post offices around Taunton town centre are to merge to form a 'mains branch'.
The temporary service at Canon Street Garage, in St James Street, is closing at 5.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday, March 1).
The existing post office in Wh Smith, in Fore Street, will then offer a wider range of services.
It will have two Post Office counters and operate for 60 hours a week and open seven days a week.
A spokesperson for the Post Office said: "When the County Stores department store in North Street, Taunton, closed we had to find alternative locations to provide Post Office service and a one position Post Office counter opened at Taunton’s WHSmith and at Canon Street Garage.
"The longer-term plan was to refurbish the post office at the at the WH Smith store with two permanent Post Office counters and enhanced services. This merger fulfils this."
The Fore Street Post Office at WHSmith is open Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
