HAVE you heard of Pickleball? The exciting new sport sweeping America, has now got a new home in Taunton.

A new group has been set up by Sylvia Jackson, with the assistance of operations manager, Paul Lang, at Blackbrook Leisure Centre, Taunton.

Sylvia Jackson said: "This is the first time in Taunton that Pickleball has been available, and it is a fantastic opportunity for people to come along and try this new sport."

The sport combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis and can be played by all ages and abilities, on interior or exterior courts.

The game is usually played on a badminton sized court, with the net lowered to tennis height. Two or four players play with wooden or graphite ‘paddles’ and a perforated polymer ball.

For an initial trial period, Pickleball will be available at Blackbrook Leisure Centre, for four weeks 3, 10, 17, 24 June (Saturday) at 1pm.

Places will be limited so advance booking is essential. The cost will be £20 per person for the 4 sessions of the trial period.
