A VAN driver has been arrested following the death of a pedestrian in a Somerset village.
The pedestrian, a woman, was hit by a blue transit van in Street yesterday evening (Thursday, March 16).
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the incident in Green Lane Avenue at around 5.20pm.
Following the collision, the road was closed for a period during the police investigation.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "While she (the pedestrian) has yet to be formally identified, her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them.
"They are being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.
"The driver of the van, a man in his 20s, has been arrested and remains in police custody at this time.
