ARTIST and performer registrations for this year’s 10 Parishes Festival in and around Wiveliscombe from September 9-17 are gaining pace in advance of the deadline at the end of this month.

Interest has been encouraging following the record level of artist sales at the last festival in 2021, which exceeded £55,000.

The event is centred around artists’ open studios and collective exhibitions, along with performances over nine days.

Venues such as Waterrow Village Hall and Wiveliscombe Community Centre have already been snapped up by artist collectives, with local artists Victoria Ward, John Abraham and Chris Howe examples of collaborations that are attractive to visitors seeking a gallery experience.

Milverton’s Penny Price is well-known for her jewellery designs which gives the alternative open studio approach, where artists can be seen at work.

Festival director Pauline Homeshaw said: “It is the planning now, six months ahead of the festival, that ensures its continued success in bringing the community together with the many talented artists and creatives that live within our local villages.

"This year’s festival theme is Reflections, which artists can incorporate into their work if they so wish.”
