What did the Michelin Guide have to say about Osip?
In describing Osip the guide said: "A thriving market town plays host to this elegant restaurant, which is owned by forward-thinking chef, Merlin Labron-Johnson, and run by a chatty and welcoming team, who are clearly passionate about its farm-to-table ethos.
"The set surprise menu is mostly plant-based, with almost all of the produce home-grown or locally sourced.
"Dishes are harmonious, with bold natural flavours and an effortlessly assured elegance. Wine pairings are organic and biodynamic."
Osip is also a restaurant that has been well-received on Tripadvisor, with it earning a 4.5/5 overall score from 125 reviews.
One reviewer wrote: "Chef Merlin Labron-Johnson and his welcoming, friendly, and professional staff make the surprise tasting menu at this Michelin Star gem a farm-to-table treat worth remembering and repeating.
"Each course of locally sourced ingredients were inventive, fresh, tasty and unique. The explosion of different flavors on each plate complimented each other and created a savory experience.
"My favorites were the fallow deer with beetroot mole and fermented black currants, and the one-of-a-kind cheese course."
Another posted: "The service is attentive but relaxed, administered by a team who conveyed genuine pleasure in being a part of the evening. Beneath all the elegant surfaces; the ensemble from both in and out of the kitchen was subtly regimented in a seamless performance.
"The set menu is served as a surprise, an apt fitting within a beautifully constructed event. The blind tasting means you fully immerse yourself in the hands of Labron-Johnson and the team; having a sequence of dishes creating a somewhat euphoric dance upon the palette. Incredibly thorough dining experience."
