STUDENTS from 6th Form at Fiveways School, Yeovil have been on a massive beach clean-up this term at Weymouth, West Bay, and Lyme Regis.
The students aged 17-19 took on the challenge as part of their new bespoke AQA award in Sustainability.
The 6th formers have been learning how to help improve their local environments by implementing different types of recycling projects both within their school and their local communities.
They have also been learning the importance of reusing resources and with the key goal of making sure we all reduce our global carbon footprint.
The 6th formers visited the local beaches and spent their day working hard collecting litter and to help maintain clean beaches.
Melissa Musgrove and Briony Robins, staff who supported the students during their Beach clean up days said: “We are really proud of the students showing how willing and passionate they all are about this term's topic and the enthusiasm they have shown whilst litter picking at all three beach’s is incredible to see.
“They are real eco warriors!’ 6th former Sam Barlow said ’I’ve enjoyed clearing up the beaches- keep our beaches clean.”
The 6th formers will be revisiting the beaches in the summer term to see if the beaches have remained clearer of litter and to continue their good work.
