WIVELISOMBE Primary School has retained its 'good' rating after it was visited by Ofsted inspectors in March.
The school has been rated 'good' across all of Ofsted's categories: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.
The report says: "Staff have high expectations of all pupils. Leaders work hard to realise the school’s goal of all pupils believing in themselves, being happy and achieving their best.
"Leaders create an inclusive environment. For example, they welcomed several Ukrainian pupils into the school. This builds a culture across the school where pupils show acceptance of others.
"Pupils enjoy coming to school, and they feel safe. They are polite, considerate and show respect. Pupils behave well when learning and playing together.
"Pupils are confident that adults will sort out any problems or concerns should they arise. They celebrate difference and know right from wrong.
"Pupils learn by following a rich and varied curriculum. This includes weekly forest school sessions and a range of clubs, such as samba and origami.
"These help to develop pupils’ interests and talents beyond the academic.
"They are proud of their work and of being a member of their school. Pupils leave Wiveliscombe well prepared for the next stage of their education."
The report includes some places for improvement, such as making better links between previous and current learning and making sure support staff have the depth of subject knowledge they need to make sure students' misconceptions do not go unnoticed.
A school spokesperson said: "Headteacher Lucy Crowe expressed her pride in the school community, particularly in the pupils who make us proud every day.
"She also thanked the talented and dedicated team of staff, who work tirelessly to achieve the best for each and every child.
"The report noted the positive relationship between school and parents; we are very proud of our parent partnership which is based upon mutual respect and continues to grow.
"Pupils were delighted that our school's guinea pigs, Bella and Snowy, were even mentioned in the report, as they visit classes for special story times to encourage good behaviour and promote the skill of reading.
"Although the report was extremely positive, the school still has areas to improve upon, such as staff training, which the school is already taking action to address. We are highly committed to staff training and our team continue to benefit from a range of face to face and online learning opportunities.
"Overall, Wiveliscombe Primary School is a wonderful school which ensures that all its pupils believe in themselves, are happy, and achieve their best.
"The headteacher and staff are committed to building upon the standards they have achieved, and the school is grateful for its supportive community."
