FIREFIGHTERS from Minehead were called to the scene of a telehandler fire on the A39 near Carhampton yesterday morning (May 7).
The incident was reported at 11.10am. A water carrier from Bridgwater was also sent to assist the Minehead crews.
A Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two fire engines from our Minehead stations were mobilised immediately, supported by a water carrier from our Bridgwater station.
"On arrival crews confirmed a fire within the engine compartment of a telehandler, which was situated in a layby off the main road.
"Crews set to work with one hose reel jet, small tools, a hydraulic ram and a thermal imaging camera.
"The fire is now extinguished and crews have left scene. This has been confirmed as accidental cause."
