WESSEX Water has announced that the A30 will close overnight between Sherborne and Yeovil later this month.
The road will be closed westbound from 8pm on Wednesday, May 24 until 6am on Thursday, May 25 at Babylon Hill.
The 10-hour road closure will allow Wessex Water to improve the side road leading to the Compton Service Reservoir.
An official diversion route will be in place but road users are being advised to carefully consider any overnight journeys while the work is taking place.
A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “The access leads directly from the A30 dual carriageway into our service reservoir but we need to improve the safety of it for our staff who regularly travel to and from the site.
“We will be completing this work overnight in time for the westbound carriageway to reopen on the Thursday morning.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused while we carry out this essential improvement.’’
