SOMERSET is set to get a new cafe that will benefit from a unique new venue showcasing original music and artists from around the country.
The cafe will open May 30, with some incredible musicians that will be gracing the opening weekend.
Inspired by the world-famous listening rooms in Nashville, USA, The Bluebird Cafe is set to open at the end of May in the picturesque village/town of Wedmore, with all profits from the venture being invested back into the local community.
Having undergone a complete refurbishment to convert the property from its previous life as a bridal shop to a multi-use community space, the venue will be open as a cafe by day, serving a selection of locally sourced savoury and sweet treats, alongside a small business centre allowing members of the public to book and make use of the desks and meeting room. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the venue will transform into a bar and intimate music venue, regularly showcasing up and coming original performers from across the UK.
Ian Scott, business owner of The Bluebird Cafe said: ''Me and my business partner, Andy, have been working relentlessly since the start of the year to bring our vision to life, not just investing financially in the venture, but also time by completing the majority of the renovations ourselves, which have been far from straight forward.
"It's certainly been a labour of love, but we're confident we've been able to create somewhere unique and welcoming, which will also allow us to give something back to our community by making donations to local community groups and good causes’’.
''We have some incredible artists gracing our stage throughout this year, with a wide range of styles and genres. One night you could be listening to a jazz trio, and then a local country duo who have toured Europe''.
''There are very few places that provide a platform for original music and artists, with many venues closing. Our ambition is to build ourselves a reputation as the premier venue for singer songwriters in the South West'' said Ian Scott.
''We are really looking forward to seeing it all come together and welcoming artists and the public to The Bluebird for the launch and beyond''.
The Bluebird Cafe officially opens on Tuesday May 30 with the venue's debut performers Harrisen Larner Maine - finalist from The Voice, and Somerset artist Stevie Nicole Brown taking to the stage for sell out shows.
Future artists also include country duo 'Our Atlantic Roots' boasting over 2.5 million streams online, popular artist Nick Parker who has embarked on a number of European tours, and local favourites Jordan Lindsey and Rileys Cove plus many more.
Tables are fully booked for the opening weekend on June 2 and 3 but future bookings can be made by contacting the venue via the website www.bluebirdcafewedmore.com or by emailing bluebirdcafewedmore@gmail.com.
You can also keep up to date with future events and featured artists by following the cafe's social media accounts @bluebirdcafewedmore
