KILVE Court Outdoor Education Centre hosted its annual Family Day on Saturday (May 13), with more than 800 people enjoying the fun, writes Harrison Lane.
Having been running since the early 1960s, Kilve Court is a staple of outdoor education in Somerset.
It provides residentials, day visits and school trips for people from Somerset and beyond.
There is always something new happening there and it would be hard to find someone in the local area who hasn’t heard of Kilve Court, let alone not been there.
Hosting the family day is a way of opening the education centre to Kilve village and to the wider public, so that they are able to say thank you to all the people that visited previously.
During the day, people can partake in a wide range of activities such as climbing, paddleboarding, archery, rifle shooting and more.
There are also areas and time to relax with a picnic in the scenic outdoors and maybe even have an ice cream while wandering about.
As part of a community engagement programme, the Doniford and Minehead Army Cadets were present to help support the event.
One person on social media said: "We come every year and it just seems to get get better and better. Everyone helping today has been so lovely, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. I have a very tired happy little lady."
Another said: "This was such a great event, well done and thank you to everyone who makes it happen, they are a lovely, happy bunch and a real credit to the organisation."
Next year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, May 11.
