A NEIGHBOUR has managed to capture footage of the fire on Kingston Road in Taunton today (May 22).
Emergency services were called to Kingston Road to reports of a blaze at a thatched property at around 1.50am.
This video footage, kindly supplied to the County Gazette by Marcel Clarke-Priest, was captured at around 3am.
Police say the resident of the property "is safe" but people in neighbouring properties were urged to keep their doors and windows closed.
Remnants of the fire are still being put out by firefighters, as Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service's latest update explains.
"We have eight fire engines, one water bowser, one aerial ladder platform and other supporting appliances at an incident in Taunton.
"Crews are at work using: Compressed air foam, Two breathing apparatus, One hose reel jet, One aerial ladder platform. The fire is ongoing."
The road is expected to be closed for the rest of today.
