GLASTONBURY Festival has revealed the line-up for its Acoustic Stage ahead of this year's event, which will get underway next month.

The Acoustic Stage - which is located near Kidzfield and the Pilton Palais cinema - will feature Steve Earle, The Saw Doctors, Newton Faulkner, The Magic Numbers and Laura Cantrell between Friday, June 23 and Sunday, June 25.

Other names on the “vintage line-up” include Gavin James, Glen Hansard, Richard Thompson, Badly Drawn Boy, The Bootleg Beatles and Emerging Talent Competition finalist Naomi Kimpenu.

A festival spokesperson said: “The Acoustic Stage is a festival within a festival.

“For the last thirty years or so, people have been trooping up to the hill to the haven of the Acoustic field.

“The crowds visit the Acoustic Stage to either avoid the rain and, maybe even, the sun – in the sanctuary of super-duper circus tent – or, to hear acoustic, song-based music.

“Mostly it’s blues, folk, contemporary or country music, but…..it’s not always played on acoustic instruments.”

Glastonbury 2023 will be held between Wednesday, June 21 and Sunday, June 25.

Former County Gazette editor and Glastonbury Festival devotee Paul Jones has written a book charting the first 50 years of the event’s history, featuring the memories and experiences of dozens of artists who have performed at Worthy Farm.

His book, View From The Stage: 50 Years of Glastonbury by the People that Played, has been described as a “brilliant collection of beautifully-written interviews” detailing some of the festival's brightest and quirkiest moments. Interviewees include members of Oasis, Status Quo, Napalm Death and Toploader.
