EXMOOR National Park has been ranked fifth in a list of the UK’s top wild camping hotspots, writes Elen Johnston.
With the last bank holiday weekend of May just around the corner, travel enthusiasts at the Motorcycle Insurance have made the list of the top 10 best wild camping locations to visit.
Exmoor National Park spans over 267 square miles of coastline and moorland with numerous landscapes and attractions, including Combe Martin Wildlife Park and Dunster Castle.
While Exmoor ranks in the top five spots, Dartmoor came in first place and was closely followed by Ullswater and Cairngorms in second and third.
While wild camping is legal in Scotland, you must seek permission in the rest of the UK.
This research identifies spots where, with permission, you can camp and is based on those referred to by Countryfile, The Times, and Outdoor Scott.
The ranking is based on research collected in April 2023 and utilises Google search data analytics through keyword research through SEM company Semrush, which calculates the different location’s combined Google search interest (average per month - UK).
