SITTING on the famous Glastonbury hill, just back from The Park stage has become a true pilgrimage for festivalgoers over the years.
This year, it was fuller, louder but happier than perhaps ever before.
From a brief head count, there would have been well over 100,000 people all spread across the hill on Wednesday at Glastonbury.
The vibe of the immense crowd though was more than positive, with people cheering for multiple engagements on the hill and just chatting with old and new friends.
Of course, they are all waiting for the fireworks display which signifies the opening of Glastonbury for another year.
The display was very impressive, but first a word on the sunset. Sitting on the hill as the sun goes down, surrounded by good people all wanting a good time, well, it was just bliss. That’s the word, bliss.
Drinking a cider, watching the sunset and smiling along with at least 100,000 people. You can’t make it up. Is there any other place like Glastonbury?
Soon after the sun was gone, the lights were on and the temporary city shone, highlighting how big this Worthy Farm is. Another impressive sight.
Then the fireworks. Which there wouldn’t be a bad spot to view them from truly. They shoot off from directly behind the Glastonbury sign and that provides a really nice shot.
There it is though, the start of Glastonbury 2023, officially. To those who were on the hill, take that memory with you, it is a good one.
