EXFORD Church of England First School commemorated its 150-year anniversary serving the villages of Exmoor last Friday (June 16) with a day of celebration.
Report by Ewan G on work experience at the County Gazette.
More than 100 current and past pupils, staff and supporters attended a service of rededication led by the Bishop of Taunton, the Rt Rev Ruth Worsley.
She praised the tremendous support the school has received from the village of Exford and the church.
During the service the children further recounted the history of the school.
The head of school, Nicola Stenner, spoke warmly of the dedication of the teaching and support staff and of how proud she is of the children’s enthusiasm and commitment to learning.
The celebration was also marked by a display of memorabilia and photographs together with an outstanding Exmoor tea.
Exford Church of England First School provides key early learning years close to home for the scattered communities across Exmoor National Park.
Pupils across generations still live and work in the village and continue to champion their school.
