THERE are likely to be four months of traffic disruption on and around East Reach, Taunton, during gas mains replacement works starting later this month.

Somerset Council has issued an order for 24-hours-a-day road traffic prohibition along 487 metres of road.

The ban takes in:

  • the left hand lane of East Reach from its junction with Tancred Street to the junction with Grays Road, including loading and waiting for the duration of the closure;
  • Eastbourne Road from the junction with East Reach northwards for a distance of 28 metres as and when signed;
  • Haydon Road from its junction with East Reach northwards for 10 metres as and when signed;
  • South Street from the junction with East Reach to the junction with Alma Street as and when signed;
  • and Tancred Street from the junction with East Reach northwards for a distance of nine metres as and when signed.

The closures are expected to be imposed from Monday, July 31, lasting 124 days until Friday, December 1.

It will allow Wales and West Utilities to carry out phased gas mains replacement works.
