New signs looks set to appear above a shopfront in the centre of Taunton.
A planning application has been submitted for three new signs on 1 St James Street.
If permission is granted by Somerset Council, the existing A-Plan signs will be replaced by other ones advertising the company that took over the insurance firm.
International insurance broking group Howden Group Holdings Ltd took over A-Plan in 2021.
Howden wants to put up two non-illuminated fascia signs and one internally illuminated fascia sign at the premises.
One of the signs will read, 'Howdens Taunton's Local Insurance Broker'.
A statement accompanying the application says: "The signage will replace existing tenant signage and is therefore appropriate in terms of scale and location.
"The design, including the muted colour tones and pallet of materials is considered to be more appropriate given the appearance of the wider building and terrace.
"Overall the design of the signage is considered to be appropriate and there will be no unacceptable impacts on the wider setting of the conservation area or any of the nearby listed buildings."
Andy Reid, branch manager at A-Plan Taunton, said: “As a local brokerage, we are focused on helping our clients get value for money on their home, motor and business insurance, with a friendly and expert team of staff.
"We want to reassure our clients that it’s the same great people, and great service that you’ve come to expect from A-Plan Insurance, but we’ll soon have a new name and new look in our branch.”
