THE West Somerset Steam Fayre and Vintage Rally at Norton Fitzwarren offered a great day out.
The spectrum of mechanical locomotion on display ranged from old pedal cycles, a fully operational scimitar tank - previously an army target practice hulk - a steam car, motorcycles and a large collection of traction engines.
If you are fond of military vehicles, driven by owners dressed in full Second World War uniform, and clouds of steam and coal smoke, belching from steam engines, then this was the place to be.
It’s was as enjoyable people watching, as observing the machines. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the day -
Commenting on the event, Stephen Martin, who took our pictures, said: "This was a great day out in the truly great British eccentric tradition. A good time was had by all.
"The proud owner of the Scimitar, an accomplished engineer, explained how he had fully restored the vehicle from the drive chain, to the infra red gun targeting.
"Another, demonstrated the different varieties of Panther tank - models he had homemade, complete with sound effects."
There were other interests catered for, including Cornish pasties, smoke house burgers, cider and gin.
It was possible to buy all sorts of merchandise from pot plants, to £50,000 motor homes.
