THE 107th Wiveliscombe Flower Show (Wivey Show) saw a huge turnout this year.
The much-loved event took place on Sunday, August 19. Prior to the show, there was a 45 per cent increase in entries, showing all the signs for a packed event.
Chairperson, Kirsty Boutflower, said: “We were encouraged by the 45 per cent increase in entries earlier in the week, but are taken aback by just how many people have arrived to enjoy the show.
"It is a lovely reward for all the hard work put in over the last year by the committee.
"Once again, we are indebted to Jon and Millie from the Bear for their sponsorship in providing the two large marquees and without whom, the show just wouldn’t happen on this scale.”
Show president, Bernadette Rowe, won Best in Show for her Victoria Sponge cake. Bernadette was delighted when Masterchef's William Sitwell declared it to be one of the best he had ever eaten.
Trade stands reported very good trade for the day, and there were reportedly large queues for the bouncy slide and welly wanging.
The Wiveliscombe Town Band, Wivelele, Wiveliscombe Wind Band and the youth group, High Park, played throughout the day.
Mr Mommet with his Punch & Judy show was hugely popular, as was the demonstration marquee, which showcased the talents of Wivey Kitchen and Wivey Grows with two cookery demonstrations.
Also popular was the demonstration from Jan’s Blue Shed Flowers and basket weaving by Kerry from Secret Island.
