MATURE drivers can check out their skills at a free event this week.
Following Somerset Road Safety’s July event in Taunton, the team are travelling to Bishops Lydeard Village Hall on Friday (September 8) from 10am to 1pm.
A driving simulator can test reaction times and help drivers with their hazard perception – useful tools for younger and older drivers alike.
As well as being free, hot drinks will be provided for attendees.
Some of the team’s partners, including Avon and Somerset Police and Devon and Somerset Fire Service, will be present along with representatives of the NHS and solicitors who can advise on wills.
A spokesperson for Somerset Council said: “Our road safety team are continuing to travel around Somerset and deliver some excellent events for a variety of people.
“The event in Bishops Lydeard is sure to provide some valuable insight for mature drivers, but do not be discouraged if you’re younger and struggle on the roads; everyone is welcome.”
Somerset Road Safety provide advice to thousands every year through educational events; they run Bikeability courses for school children and train School Crossing Patrols.
