A SOMERSET pub has been recognised for its world-class service, being named by Tripadvisor among the top 10% of restaurants across the globe.
The Crown Inn, located between Bridgwater and Glastonbury, in Catcott, has been awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers Choice award.
Landlord Daniel Kilduff and landlady Jenna Ball were humbled by the award, happy that their exceptionally hard work wasn't going unnoticed.
They've been at The Crown for seven years now, going above and beyond to serve their customers locally with sourced, hand prepared and home made meals.
The pub is staffed mainly by family of Daniel and Jenna, and the recognition brought about by the award has provided a boost of morale in what Jenna described as "a difficult time in the trade right now."
"It feels like a battle constantly," she said.
"To get that recognition is like - we're doing something right."
The Crown Inn has endeavoured to keep food and drink prices reasonable during the cost of living crisis.
Just some of the delicious home made food on offer includes steak and ale pies, roast dinners, and mouth-watering steaks which can be cut with a butter knife.
They recommend the belly pork, which is served with home grown vegetables, and an apple and cider gravy - as well as a pint of Timothy Taylor ale to wash it down with.
Daniel and Jenna believe as well as their top-quality food, the atmosphere and service provided at The Crown is what sets them apart from the competition.
They explained how they always take the time to speak with customers, and even sit down to have a drink with the locals, avoiding the "transactional" feel of many modern pubs.
Daniel reminisced on one customer's first visit to the pub, who upon leaving, said: "We came in like customers, and we left like family".
The interior of the venue contains classic country pub features like 300 year old flagstone flooring, church pew seating, and historic pictures and paintings.
The Crown Inn also boasts a large play area and beer garden which hosts live music during the summertime.
Motorhome stopovers are welcome, and free of charge as long as travellers use the pub.
Frequent visitors to The Crown travel from as far as Bristol, but their main clientele is made up of residents from Bridgwater, Glastonbury, and Burnham-on-Sea.
