A NURSING home close to Taunton town centre has been sold to a new owner.

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of The Firs Nursing Home.

With a confidential sales process with Simon Harvey at Christie & Co, the home has been purchased by Arif Pradhan of Halcyon Care Group, an operator with homes across the country, including homes in Exmouth, Cullompton, and Tiverton.

Somerset County Gazette:

The group has acquired The Firs as part of its expansion plans in the South West.

The Firs Nursing Home, which was sold for an undisclosed price, occupies a substantial detached, extended property that provides accommodation for up to 40 elderly residents.

The home has been owned by Somendra Khosla of Care West Country Ltd since the early 1990s. Following the recent sales of Somendra’s two South Wales homes - Llanyravon Court Nursing Home in Cwmbran and Crick Care Home in Monmouthshire – and now the sale of The Firs, he is able to retire from the sector.

Somerset County Gazette:

Simon Harvey, senior director at Healthcare at Christie & Co, said: “I am delighted to have acted on the sale of another care home in the South West that continues to demonstrate the strength of appetite that we’re seeing for quality opportunities in the region.

"The Firs attracted a great amount of interest, with multiple bids received from a wide range of potential purchasers.

“We wish Arif Pradhan and Halcyon Care Group well with this acquisition.

"We are also delighted to have, once again, been successful on behalf of the Directors of Care West Country Ltd in completing the sale of The Firs, having previously acted on their behalf to sell their Welsh properties.”
