A BRIDGWATER woman whose son almost lost his life has taken part in a skydive to raise money to give back to the neurosurgeons who saved him.

Immacolata Notaro-Livingstone, an A&E emergency nurse practitioner, was joined by her colleagues from Musgrove Park, Julie Holt and Sian Martin, as well as Santolo's uncle, Mark Livingstone, in the charity skydive on July 9.

A whopping £10,726.05 was raised.

On October 25, a cheque was donated to the Bristol Children's Hospital and the members of staff who helped care for her son, Santolo, after he suffered a massive brain haemorrhage in 2022.

Speaking to the County Gazette at the start of July, Immacolata said: "We are hoping to raise £5,000, we are nearly there, we have raised £4,600 at the moment.

"The reason I'm doing it is because my 11-year-old son had a catastrophic brain haemorrhage.

"He was in intensive care for 18 days, he nearly lost his life."

The brain haemorrhage was the result of an abnormal anteriovenous malformation, which Santolo would have had from birth.

However, thanks to the work of Mr Edwards, Mr Fellows and their team, Santolo managed to pull through.

Immacolata added: "The neurosurgeons are incredible, Mr Edwards and Mr Fellows saved our son's life. The whole team from nurses, domestics, and neuro-rehab team became our family."

Joe Notaro, Santolo's grandfather, said: "These incredible surgeons saved my grandson's life."
