A HOLLYWOOD film producer has met media students at Strode College to talk about his career and the stars he has worked with.

David Paul Kirkpatrick contacted the schools when he was in the area to offer to talk about the films he has helped produce and to offer advice.

Adrian Smith, creative media course manager said: "It was wonderful for our students to talk to someone with such a long and varied history in filmmaking.

"The students asked a lot of questions and when asked who David felt was his favourite person to work with he said Harrison Ford.

"It doesn't get better than that. This was a really special experience."

David Paul Kirkpatrick was production chief at Walt Disney Pictures and president of Paramount Pictures, where he managed and oversaw more than 200 pictures over 17 years.

During his career he has worked on movies such as Ordinary People, Elephant Man, Witness and Top Gun and franchises including Indiana Jones, Star Trek, Friday the 13th , and the Jack Ryan and Beverly Hills Cop series.

At Paramount, he worked with a diverse group of directors including Peter Weir, Francis Ford Coppola, and Martin Scorsese; and with motion picture stars, most notably Eddie Murphy and Harrison Ford.

He is a Golden Globe award-winning independent film-maker with pictures including Big Night, and the HBO Television Miniseries, Rasputin.
