AS expected, Bridgwater Carnival once again perfectly encapsulated the spirit of Bridgwater in yet another unforgettable evening of sheer brilliance.

The carnival's return saw Ramblers CC maintain their reign as champions for a second year with their excellent 'Trawlermen' entry.

Regardless of the results, this year's carnival was an excellent day of entertainment and brought family and friends together to watch the streets become illuminated not only by light, but also excitement, elation, and joy.

Dave Stokes, Publicity Director for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: "Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival certainly lived up to its reputation of being one of the best illuminated carnival processions in the world.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the town on Saturday evening, and the excitement and atmosphere from the watching thousands was something to behold.

“The standard of every single entry was exceptionally high, and we must take this opportunity to pay tribute and thank all of the carnival clubs and walking entries for putting on such a magnificent show.

"Everyone did themselves proud."
