PROMINENT cake artist Dusica Roberts, otherwise known as DusiCake, played a key role in achieving the 'Best in Show' award at Cake International this weekend.
From Burnham-on-Sea, she teamed up with other South West bakers Verity Malinowska and Kerry Hemms to win this prestigious accolade at the world’s greatest cake competition.
Held in the NEC in Birmingham, Cake International is an annual three-day exhibition.
The event sees cake artists from around the globe submitting exemplary works for consideration, with this year's iteration boasting nearly a thousand entries.
The range of categories featured afternoon tea delights, cupcake displays, decorative exhibits, and sugar flowers.
The local trio made their mark in a life-size collaboration category, their extraordinary Woodland Fairy standing out amidst a plethora of offerings, including a sophisticated lion, a Shetland pony, and a drum-beating gorilla.
Following an exemplary gold award and securing first place in their category, they were judged as the best of the best by the expert panel.
Sharing their experience, the triumphant trio said: "We wanted to pool our talents and bring our own skills to the table as well as working collectively, we can truly say that we all had hands on every element of Podrick."
And added: "When we come together the magic happens."
