THE Guide Dogs charity pop-up shop is returning to Taunton for its Christmas season opening.

The shop will open its doors from November 11 at Unit 33 in Orchard Shopping Centre.

Local Guide Dogs volunteers will manage the fundraising hub until December 21.

The Taunton fundraising group, exclusively volunteer-based, has consistently generated thousands yearly since its inception in 1958.

Last year, the group celebrated raising over £1M for Guide Dogs.

The pop-up shop times accommodating Christmas shoppers will be from 10am - 4pm every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and also on November 26, aligning with the town's Christmas lights switch-on.

Somerset County Gazette:

Krissie Isaac from Guide Dogs said: "The pop-up shop is a great opportunity to raise funds for Guide Dogs and help us continue our vital work for people with sight loss.

"We are so proud of our volunteers and would like to thank them for everything they do.

"We also wish to recognise the fantastic support that the group receives from individuals and businesses within the local community."

Last year, the shop earned over £12,500, thanks in part to a substantial £5,000 donation.

The shop will once again offer a range of Christmas-themed Guide Dogs merchandise with all proceeds benefiting the charity.

With approximately 24,000 Somerset residents affected by sight loss, the funds raised are crucial to continuing the charity’s services.

The charity also invites potential volunteers to help in a variety of roles, from fundraising to puppy raising.
