The Yeovil Phosphate Management Project has secured a £2,000 Naturesave Trust grant for essential water testing equipment.

Spearheaded by the Yeovil Rivers Community Trust (YRCT), the project tackles phosphate problems in Dodham Brook Catchment and sections of the River Yeo, by designing systems to lower its levels.

Lorne Thomson, Trustee and Chair of YRCT said: "We are delighted to have received this grant which will enable the Yeovil Rivers Community Trust to purchase water sampling equipment as part of our Phosphate Management Project.

"The grant from The Naturesave Trust will allow us to gather vital data.

"This will contribute to developing and implementing mitigation measures to help reduce phosphate levels and deliver biodiversity benefits across the catchment".

High phosphate levels can cause water pollution, endangering biodiversity.

Equipping the trust with water sampling tools, the Naturesave Trust grant boosts an essential part of their approach.

By incorporating local science and public education, the community gets hands-on involvement in enhancing their environment.

The Naturesave Trust, funded wholly by Naturesave Insurance premiums, aids environmental and preservation initiatives nationally.

Since its inception in 1995, the trust offers crucial support for organisations actively combating environmental issues.
