CHEDDAR Gorge has been named as the UK's second best wintery walk, according to research conducted by holiday home operator Verdant Leisure.
Factors such as average rainfall, TripAdvisor ratings and social media popularity helped the leisure company determine the list.
Boasting over 12 million TikTok hashtags, a 4.5-star TripAdvisor rating and situated within the Mendip Hills, Cheddar Gorge provides a winter landscape of startling grandeur.
Eye-opening features include its mysterious caves, rolling hills, and famous landmarks such as Jacob's Ladder.
Visitors can also enjoy a three-mile clifftop walk, offering breath-taking views of Somerset's sprawling countryside.
Sitting pretty at the top of the list is Eastbourne's Seven Sisters, which offers ocean clifftop views of Sussex’s coastline.
The area is renowned for its iconic seven chalk cliffs and has a five-star TripAdvisor rating.
With 14.6 million social media engagements, it represents an immensely popular winter walk.
Other wintery walks that make up the top 10 are several National Parks and landmarks from Northumberland, Yorkshire, East Lothian and Scotland, all offering unique landscapes for winter exploring.
For example, number three on the list, for instance, is John Muir Way, a popular trail offering coast to coast views of Scotland with a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 stars.
Also included in the list is the iconic Sycamore Gap, its tree immortalised by its appearance in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
It comes just a month after it was shockingly cut down.
The aim of the study is to help walkers identify the best locations with the least rainfall.
Verdant Leisure also seeks to encourage Brits to continue venturing outdoors even during the colder months, as well as in and around Christmas.
The prospect of bracing Britain's natural beauty in winter may be more enticing knowing the advisability of well-timed retreats to brilliantly cosy holiday homes.
