A LIFE-SAVING bleed control kit has been installed at a children’s centre in Taunton.
The kit at The Acorns Children’s Centre on Roman Road is designed to control bleeding after a traumatic injury and was placed next to a defibrillator.
This is part of an Avon and Somerset Police campaign raising awareness for knife crime which also involves HeartSafe and NHS England South West.
A spokesperson for the West Somerset and Taunton Neighbourhood Policing group said: “A life-saving bleed control kit was installed on Friday at The Acorns Children's Centre in Roman Road, Taunton, as part of our ongoing initiative with HeartSafe and NHS England South West.
“The bleed kit, which is designed to control bleeding after someone suffers a traumatic injury, is one of 144 being installed across Avon and Somerset this year.
“The kits are placed on the side of existing HeartSafe defibrillators making them instantly accessible to any member of the public in an emergency.
“Last week our officers delivered talks to local schools, conducted knife sweeps of open spaces, and raised awareness of the dangers of knife crime as part of Operation Sceptre - a national week of action for police forces across the UK #OpSceptre.”
