FOUR firemen in Somerset were honoured last night for the exceptional commitment and service to keeping locals safe.

Chief Fire Officer Gavin Ellis visited Wellington Fire Station on Tuesday November 21 to present certificates of achievement to some of the long standing members.

Andy Troake was awarded his 30 and 40 year clasps and certificates for the dedication and commitment he has shown to Wellington.

Jason Vernon and Dave Thomas both received their 30 year service clasps and certificates in recognition of their unwavering commitment.

Kev Bowden received his 30 year service certificate earlier in the year.

Between the four local heroes totals over 130 years of experience to the fire service.

A spokesperson for Wellington Fire Station said: "Congratulations on a great achievement and thank you for everything you do for your community."

The news was met with overwhelming support and admiration from the local community on Facebook.
