POLICE said a person “attended a voluntary interview” as they investigate an incident of a “suspected data breach” at a Somerset hospital.
On Wednesday, November 22, the Somerset NHS Trust said up to 200 patients have had their records "inappropriately accessed by a member of staff" after a data breach at Musgrove Park Hospital.
Somerset NHS is contacting every person whose hospital record has been inappropriately accessed to let them know what has happened, to apologise unreservedly, and to offer to meet them to discuss it if they would like to.
The trust has reported the breach to the Information Commissioner and Avon and Somerset Police are investigating.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating an incident of a suspected data breach at a Somerset hospital.
"One person has attended a voluntary interview and enquiries are ongoing.
“The hospital is making contact with all those effected.”
