RESIDENTS in several locations across Somerset are being warned to expect flooding following Monday's torrential rain.
Several flood warnings (pinpointed in red triangles on the map) signifying flooding is expected are in place across the county.
And there are also a number of flood alerts (marked by orange triangles) meaning flooding is possible.
The Environment Agency has issued more than 60 flood warnings across England as heavy rain replaced snow as the nation’s major weather concern.
At 6am this morning (Tuesday, Deceember 5) 69 flood warnings were in place, mainly in Somerset, Dorset and across the Midlands.
There were a further 182 flood alerts.
Rail users in the South West have been warned flooding would affect services.
Great Western Railway said flooding had caused significant disruption on Monday and advised people not to travel between Bristol and Exeter or any trip between London Paddington and Devon or Cornwall.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We are expecting disruption between London Paddington and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall into Tuesday morning as floods subside.”
Passengers on long-distance services were advised to avoid travelling by train if possible in the morning.
