A new version of the iconic A Christmas Carol has now opened at Taunton Brewhouse.
In collaboration with theatre company Pleasure Dome, it has unveiled an exciting adaptation of Dickens' classic festive story complete with electrifying music, enchanting puppetry, and splashes of South West charm.
Originally adapted by Pleasure Dome, known for its captivating 'reimaginings', the play boasts its cast of multi-skilled actor-musicians as well as a local youth ensemble.
West End director, Scott Le Crass, took the helm, bringing an enchanting family experience featuring enduring storytelling and plenty of festive cheer.
Dickens’ evergreen narrative is presented from a new perspective: a young girl, growing up in Taunton.
The journey of Ebenezer Scrooge, as he is visited by the ghost of his deceased business partner Jacob Marley, and three spirits complete with key messages, explores whether Scrooge will redeem himself or be eternally condemned.
Excited by the unique experience, executive director at Taunton Brewhouse, Vickie Robbins said: "We’re thrilled to welcome thousands of local people to the theatre this Christmas to enjoy Dickens’ timeless celebration of community spirit.
"This unique reimagining with a South West twist, puppetry and music is the perfect festive treat to bring all ages together in the coming weeks.
"We’re also thankful to our sponsor Taunton School, who have made the casting of local young people possible through their support."
Displaying an impressive ensemble, the cast includes established performers from stages in London's West End to the National Theatre.

In line with Taunton Brewhouse's aim for accessibility and inclusivity, they've partnered with Taunton Foodbank.
A successful ‘Pay it Forward’ campaign has now secured funding for 100 families to attend who might have otherwise missed out.
A Christmas Carol continues at Taunton Brewhouse until December 30, welcoming all ages.
