A man who failed to tell police who was driving a vehicle suspected of committing an offence has been hit with a court bill of almost £1,200.
Philip Brian Porter, 60, of St Cleers Way, Somerton, had denied the offence on October 24 last year at Taunton Magistrates' Court.
But the case was proved in his absence last week.
Porter was fined £660 and ordered to pat a victim surcharge of £264 and a contribution of £250 towards prosecution costs
He was also handed six penalty points on his driving licence.
A charge of at 28mph in a 20mph zone in Jacobs Wells Road, Bristol on September 15 last year was withdrawn by the court.
Porter was ordered to pay his total court bill of £1,174 by Friday, December 29.
