A local charity pop-up shop has raised over £11,000 thanks to Taunton residents.
The shop, run by the sight-loss charity Guide Dogs, was hosted at the Orchard Centre and operated by local volunteers to raise money during the Christmas season.
This represents the third consecutive year that this charity shop initiative has been held.
The shop, composed entirely of volunteers, works tirelessly all year to raise funds for Guide Dogs.
Established in 1958, the group has cumulatively raised an impressive sum exceeding £1M for the charity since it was founded.
As of December 14, the total amount collected stands at £11,270.
Bargain hunters and charitable shoppers alike can still contribute as the shop will remain open until noon on December 21.
Krissie Isaac, of Guide Dogs, expressed immense gratitude.
She said: "Thank you to everyone who has given up their time to support by carrying out a shift at the shop, by donating items to sell or by spreading the word.
"And of course, to our lovely customers!"
Radically surpassing last year's figures, Ms Isaac informed that: "So far this year, it is a staggering £2,773.56!
"Our guide dogs are truly life-changing, allowing people with sight loss to enjoy the same freedom and independence as everyone else.
"We are so proud of our volunteers and would like to thank them for everything they do."
Guide Dogs merchandise, including Christmas cards, plush toys, and stationery, are being sold in the shop to raise proceeds for the charity.
Every penny goes towards breeding, training and supporting these guide dogs – a process that costs around £55,000 per dog.
This philanthropic organisation continuously seeks additional volunteers for various roles, including fundraising and puppy-raising.
