EXTINCTION Rebellion are back in Taunton this week to hold a vigil in support of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Locals are invited to join Extinction Rebellion Taunton outside the Tourist Information Centre on Friday, January 5 from 1:30pm.
A spokesperson said: "Join us in a vigil for Palestine on Friday January 5th at 1.30pm.
"We will stand outside the Tourist Information Centre in Taunton... our main message is 'Ceasefire Now'.
"Please bring your own banners and please bring your friends.
"We are meeting in the capacity of ordinary citizens."
In December, Somerset Council called for a ceasefire at a meeting.
The motion was put by a Frome Green councillor of Jewish origin (Helen Kay) and a Taunton Lib Dem councillor of Iranian origin (Habib Farbahi).
Labour, Green, Lib Dem, and independent councillors present at the meeting supported the motion, whilst the Conservatives abstained.
Cllr Brian Smedley (Labour), leader of Bridgwater Town Council, said: “Towns across Somerset have been holding vigils and demonstrations calling for a ceasefire.
"A ceasefire and a serious concentration on a two-state solution is the only way forward with any practical positive outcome."
