YOUR County Gazette is launching a campaign to showcase Taunton’s brilliant range of independent businesses through a series of in-depth features – and we need your support.
Through our Love Shopping Local campaign, we want to shine a spotlight on the local businesses that provide welcoming places to shop, eat and drink in the town’s independent quarter, Bath Place and beyond.
Our reporters will be paying visits to those businesses over the coming weeks and months, offering them the chance to tell us their stories.
And we’d like to hear from our readers about their favourite places to shop in the county town.
Susie Thomas, who co-owns Rocket and Bird and runs the Taunton Independent Quarter Facebook page, said: “It’s important to remember that shopping local is NOT just for Christmas!
“The shops are here all year round waiting to offer you fabulous service, a personal experience and wonderful products.
“There’s something very special about discovering an amazing local business but it’s even more special to keep using them again and again all year round.
“Taunton has a wonderful selection of small shops and businesses run by passionate business owners.
“Make time to find them, get to know them and enjoy using them, you won’t regret it!”
Michelle Beck, who runs Taunton Independent Market, has also encouraged people to support local businesses in the town.
“Everyone can discover the magic of Taunton in 2024 by choosing to shop locally and supporting the Taunton Independent Market,” she said.
“The markets regularly showcase around 80 local small businesses, but our aim isn't just about shopping; it's about uplifting all the independent businesses in our town and creating a brighter future for our community.
“Together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant Taunton for everyone to enjoy!”
