A SOMERSET housebuilder donated an impressive £61,500 to charities in the South West last year.
Barratt David Wilson Homes South West provides funding for charities and organisations across the region in the hopes of building positive legacies in the communities where it builds.
The housebuilder has developments in Nerrols Grange in Taunton, Moorland Gate in Bishops Lydeard and Delamare Park in Frome.
A woman's domestic violence charity has received help from the housebuilder. Taunton Women's Aid has helped women and children who are unsafe in their own homes over the past 40 years.
Speaking after the donation, Lucy Nicholls-Brice, trustee at Taunton Women’s Aid, said: “We’re fortunate to have developed strong connections with the local community over the last four decades.
"We believe everyone can play a part to put a stop to domestic abuse and donating funds is one way to do this.
"We know people in Somerset are keen to see local domestic abuse provision for women and children and we’re thankful for Barratt David Wilson Homes’ support.”
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “We're happy to have helped so many charities over the past year.
"The dedicated efforts of these organisations that enhance the wellbeing of those in need is inspirational and I hope our donations will allow them to extend their support to even more people in our communities.
"Our charity drive will continue throughout 2024, along with our dedication to have a positive impact on the lives of those in need."
Each Barratt David Wilson Homes division can donate £1,500 to help improve the quality of life for those living in their area.
The South West branch has adopted Star Scheme as the charity of the year. The company hopes to raise over £40,000 to help young people who experienced or have experienced Adversity in Childhood, adverse childhood and community experiences (ACEs), poverty or mental health issues.
Fundraisers will be held throughout the year to make this possible, including the housebuilders’ gala dinner in April.
