AN ANIMAL welfare centre is asking for the owner of a possible XL bully dog to come forward as they “fear for the worst outcome”.
St Giles Welfare said they found a possible XL type in the Glastonbury area and, due to the current restrictions on XL types, they would not be able to adopt the dog, unless there’s an exemption certificate in place.
The centre is now looking for the owner and said: “Possible XL type collected from Mendip Glastonbury, out of our stray intake area but unfortunately due to restrictions on XL types it seems we’re the only place that has suitable facilities to house at present.
“This beauty needs to find her owner and as the law states, they need to already have an exemption certificate in place.
“If we don’t find her owner, we fear the worst outcome as due to new legislation we’re not allowed to ‘sell/adopt’ XL types unless they already have an exemption certificate in place.
“If this dog does not have an owner, we will ask the dog law enforcement officers to assess her, and keep our fingers crossed she is not an XL type.
“If you are the owner, please call us on 01823 490333.”
