A primary school near Yeovil has won a national nature award for the second year running.
Tintinhull Primary, also known as St Margaret's CEVA School, is one of just 25 schools across England to be honoured with the Let’s Go Zero Award from Ovo Foundation.
The accolade includes a £200 prize, which will be invested into transforming a section of the school grounds into a wildflower meadow and setting up workshops and community events.
Students will take part in making wildflower seed bombs and delivering talks on the benefits of nurturing even small wildflower meadows, highlighting their role in providing food for bees, butterflies and other essential pollinators throughout the year.
Headteacher, Hayley Robinson, expressed her joy about winning the award again: "We’re delighted to win the Ovo Foundation’s Climate Changers prize for the second time.
"We highly value our rural surroundings and are passionate about encouraging our children to connect with nature and make positive changes to our world."
Tintinhull's consistent emphasis on nature preservation is evident in its previous accolades, which include The Gold Award from the Woodland Trust and the Level 4 Certificate from the Royal Horticultural Society.
The RHS has also invited the school to make national gardening podcasts for its Facebook page.
