Members of the Taunton Brewhouse Youth Theatre are taking part in this year's National Theatre Connections.
The nationwide festival, which celebrates young talent across the UK, sees 270 youth companies commissioned annually to perform new plays written by exciting writers.
This year, a 14-member troupe led by director Abbie Riddell will showcase playwright Siân Owen’s new work, The Periodicals.
Ms Riddell is enthused about the new project, and said: "NT Connections is such a special opportunity for young people to participate in, so for our Youth Theatre to be selected is hugely exciting.
"Today’s young people involved in the arts are the future generation of theatre professionals; I’m so thrilled to be working with each and every one of our wonderful company."
The Periodicals, set in a dystopian near future, presents an evocative narrative of techno-savvy fugitives held captive by a faulty educational system.
Siân Owen, a Welsh playwright with prestigious accolades including the Oxford Playhouse New Writing Competition Winner, is currently on attachment at the National Theatre.
The play premieres at Taunton Brewhouse on March 25, then travels to Worcester Theatres for a special festival performance on April 2.
Tickets can be booked at tauntonbrewhouse.co.uk or via the Box Office.
