A vehicle has been 80 per cent damaged after going up in flames on the M5 near Taunton this morning (March 10).
Fire crews were called at 3.17am on Sunday after reports of a vehicle fire between Junctions 24 and 25 on the M5 North near Taunton.
On arrival the vehicle was already well alight.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Two appliances from Taunton used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. There are no reported injuries, but the vehicle was 80% damaged by fire."
The road was closed for a while, as fire crews fought the fire, Travel Somerset at the time of the incident said: "Two lanes were closed due to vehicle fire on M5 Northbound from J25 A358 (Taunton) to J24 A38 Taunton Road (Bridgwater South)."
A witness to the incident said: "Vehicle up in flames on M5 northbound between jct 25 - 24, police were stopping traffic."
